The Story of Malmesbury is a fascinating history of the town and covers the period 500BC-1600AD - explaining recent archaeological discoveries, the origin and development of the famous Abbey and the growth of this ancient and significant urban settlement. The author is the well-known local historian, John Bowen, and it has been edited by Graham Allnatt, former Head of History at Malmesbury School.
As well as describing the events that shaped the town from the earliest times in an authoritative and at the same time readable style, the book also contains some striking photographs that were nearly all taken very recently.
Published as a high quality, hardback book, lavishly illustrated in full colour and black and white, the book is selling extremely well. It costs £15.99 and can be obtained from local outlets, or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
